Thanks to our SHS Staff for their help!
QUESTION:
What is the proper, detailed procedure for a student to check out & back in for a medical/dental appointment during the instructional day? I'm referring to situations where the student is at school already, leaves between periods for an hour or so, then comes back to school. Thanks!
ANSWER:
Parents have two options for a child to sign out .
(1) Parent may send an email to SHSattendance@springbranchisd.com with the GRADE LEVEL as the subject line. The email must have the students first and last name (legal name) , the time of dismissal, and the reason of the dismissal. The parent or guardian must to write their full name with a contact phone number (that matches the one in skyward). That way we can reach them if further question arise. Once the attendance receives the email for a student, the student will be sent a dismissal pass. The student will be responsible to show the dismissal pass to the teacher at the designated time of the pass. Then the student will come to the attendance office to sign out.
(2) Parents can send a written note with the same information as above. The student is responsible to deliver the note to the attendance office and trade the parent note for a dismissal pass. The parent note must state students full legal name, time of dismissal, date of the dismissal, the reason of dismissal, and parent full name with a good contact number that matches the one in skyward.
When the student returns to campus , he or she must sign in to the attendance office. Any further documentation can be turn in at the time of arrival or parent can email it to shsattendance@springbranchisd.com.
** Please note that SHS cannot dismiss students with a phone call. Dismissals can only be done if we have one of the following;
1. Email from parent
2. Parent send a note signed
3. Parents signs student out ( we request ID). This takes time as parents have to be checked in at SHS first before coming to the Attendance office. So plan accordingly.
If the student is not feeling well, he or she must report to the clinic for further instructions of dismissal.
